The Great California Delta Trail will be a continuous recreational corridor from Martinez to Sacramento. It will create an unique recreation, education, and economic resource benefiting Contra Costa, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, and Yolo Counties.

The Great California Delta Trail was created in 2006 when Governor Schwarzenegger signed Senator Tom Torlakson's SB 1556 into law.
Much of the California Delta is currently inaccessible except by boat, or in some cases, by car. Delta Protection Commission surveys over the past decade have shown there are many unmet recreational needs for the Delta region—including trails for hiking and bicycling, facilities for wildlife observation and education, water sports access, bank fishing areas, and improved historic and cultural sites with interpretive information.
The Friends of the Great California Delta Trail is a community group seeking to raise community support and awareness for the completion of the trail by working throughout our region.
We hope you will join the Friends of the Great California Trail as we work together to bring this concept to reality for generations of California to enjoy in the years to come!
